English language requirements
All Monash applicants must satisfy the minimum English language requirements of the university
For the requirements below, some undergraduate courses have higher TOEFL and IELTS score requirements. Graduate courses require an IELTS academic score of at least 6.5 or equivalent, and some graduate courses require a higher score.

You can meet these requirements in one of the following ways:

| Tertiary/Post-secondary school studies |
You have studied in an institution where English is the language of instruction and assessment for the entire institution, or in a substantial English-medium school or department within a larger institution, and have satisfactorily completed the equivalent of one full-time year of either:
-
a university undergraduate award program, or

All of your secondary schooling was in English and you have successfully completed at least two university level subjects in an institution where English is the language of instruction and assessment. The university subjects must be “English-rich” and judged an appropriate test of proficiency in English language by the managing Monash faculty of the course applied for.

| Monash University English Language Centre |
You have successfully completed the Monash University English Language Bridging Program, or equivalent programs, at the appropriate level. For further information visit MUELC.

Note: for applicants whose secondary schooling was not entirely in English, any result or qualification listed above must have been gained or completed within the two years prior to commencement of the course in which enrolment is sought.
Don’t meet the English language requirements?
If you have not yet satisfied any of the above English language requirements, the most effective pathway is to undertake an English course at the Monash University English Language Centre.
