Undertaking Market Research Surveys with Monash University Students

Departments, Schools, Centres and Divisions of Monash are approached from time to time by external market research companies wishing to survey Monash students. It is not possible to prevent external organisations for targeting Monash Students for market research but Monash is under no obligation to provide any assistance. The decision on whether to assist with such market research is the responsibility of 'local' management (eg Faculty or Division).

If 'local' management is convinced that it is in the interests of Monash to be involved, CHEQ can provide assistance in checking the suitability of the process. This would entail ethical considerations including privacy legislation, timing of the research and appropriateness of the items in the questionnaire. Survey standards adopted by CHEQ will be the primary consideration for assessing such research.
