Key dates - Semester 2, 2008

The final date for submitting an order for Semester 2 2008 MonQueST evaluations is October 6, 2008. Orders received after that date are not able to be processed.

Promotion Applications (semester 1)

Staff intending to use MonQueST results from semester 1 in their promotion application should ensure that the questionnaires have been administered and submitted for processing before the end of week 9. This will enable the surveys to be processed and the report delivered to staff in sufficient time for their application.

Completed MonQueST surveys submitted for processing after week 9 may not be able to be processed in time to allow the results to be included in their promotion application.

Ordering

Please note: If you have not received the questionnaires a week before the date of the evaluation please contact Evaluations immediately on 55143.

The process of obtaining a MonQueST evaluation is as follows:

  • Complete a MonQueST evaluation request form

  • MonQueST questionnaires are sent by CHEQ to the requesting teacher/contact person(s)

  • at least two weeks notice is required prior to the date of evaluation

  • Follow the guidelines for administration so as to maintain the confidentiality of the data.  (Note: you are not allowed to administer the survey yourself and you should not be present while the surveys are administered)

CHEQ do not edit comments.  Such comments are made in confidence and must be treated confidentially by the staff member who receives them.

Guidelines

The credibility of student evaluation of teaching depends to a large degree on the integrity of the process by which data is collected. CHEQ has developed these guidelines to help in maintaining data integrity. MonQueST student evaluation of teaching questionnaires must be distributed and collected by a person other than the person being evaluated. The administrator could be:

a student 
a colleague
a designated person 

If questionnaires are distributed and collected by the individual requesting the evaluation, such evaluations may be invalid for use in promotions or similar processes. 

If you wish to distribute the questionnaire to your students by mail the process is as follows:

  • Complete your MonQueST request form as normal.
  • MonQueST questionnaires are sent by CHEQ to the requesting teacher/contact person(s), along with a return envelope for completed forms.

  • The requesting teacher/contact person(s) arranges for the survey to be sent out to each of the required students.
    • These need to be sent in an A4 envelope so the surveys are not folded. An A4 envelope, addressed to the requesting academic, also must be sent to the student so the survey can be returned without being folded.
  • Students complete surveys and return them to the requesting teacher/contact person(s).
  • When all surveys are returned (or when as many as possible have been returned) the completed surveys are sent to CHEQ, in the survey return envelope, for processing.
