If you cannot locate a
report for a unit please look at the Exception Reports. No reports are
produced where a unit had fewer than 5 responses or greater than a 100%
response rate. Exception reports are available
starting from Semester 2, 2006.

Faculty Questionnaires

Systematic student evaluation of units at Monash was developed in 1993 to
ready the institution for the first ‘quality round.’ The DV-C and Committee
of Deans decided 10 common items that would be required in all unit
evaluations. Unit coordinators prepared reports on the results of unit
evaluations for Heads of Departments, Heads in turn reported to Deans and
Deans incorporated the evaluation results in their annual reports to
Academic Board.
While the 10 common items approach ensured good presentation during the
1993-95 quality rounds, by 1996 Faculties were arguing for greater
flexibility in deciding items. A CADET Working Party was therefore
established in 1998, which constructed the institutional position that is
still current. In essence, this identifies 5 core areas that must be
addressed in student evaluation of units, as follows:
- content and objectives
- teaching methods;
- assessment procedures;
- student workload and study behaviour;
- routine evaluation mechanisms.
Faculties would construct their own items to address these areas and
would undertake the evaluation of each unit, at least every 5 years.

In 2005 a new system for unit evaluations was approved by Academic Board
(1/2005) which includes:
- 10 common items to be used in all unit evaluations;
- a student evaluation to be taken of each unit each year;
- up to 10 additional quantitative items may be added by a Faculty in
order to produce a common Faculty unit evaluation form of no more than
20 questions;
- results from student evaluations of units to be posted on a common web
site;
- results from student evaluations to be systematically considered by
Schools and Faculties in the semester following delivery.
