As with "Still Learning", the review was conducted in two parts. The first part analysed how well we are applying our quality cycle to international dimensions. This entails considering:

our plans in relation to international aspects, how well we act on them, how well we monitor our performance and the extent to which we improve in consequence;

  • a range of planning documents and processes;
  • all the available data, including the recent MEQ results and our performance in reviewing internal dimensions; and
  • the continuing review of partnerships by the university's Transnational Quality Assurance and Improvement Committee (TQAIC).

The second part involved picking out particular themes for closer analysis. These will be drawn from the following issues:

  • academic standards
  • performance of international students
  • business case and processes
  • marketing and admissions
  • internationalising the curriculum
  • student experience
  • counselling and support of students
  • Key Performance Indicators for internationalisation
  • governance/management of international dimensions.

The panel was guided in its deliberations by a matrix, showing the relationship between organisational areas of the university (represented in the columns), the university's global development principles, and its modes of operation (represented in the rows). The self-review concentrated on evidence of progress in each of the rows as demonstrated in each area of the university's operations (columns).
