Student Campus Religious Groups

Indonesian Campus Ministries (ICM)

A Christian club, everyone is welcome, but special emphasis on Indonesian students at Monash.

Activities:

  • BBQs to start the year
  • Outings during the vacations
  • Online forums and discussions as a virtual "lounge" where people can chat and ask questions

Multicultural Student Fellowship (MSF)

A Christian club with regular weekly activities as follows:

  • Blast:   Christian gathering of MSF clubs throughout Victoria - Every Saturday, 4:45 pm (doors open) at S2.32, opposite Link Theatre.
    Content:  multimedia show, live music, performance (drama/dance), a cool message and refreshments.  All for free.
  • Pit Stop:  Midweek refreshing encounter.  Come anytime you like between 12 to 1 pm every Wednesday at the Caulfield Campus Spiritual Centre (B1.56).
  • Meet 'n Dine:  Free dinner made by members from different nationalities.  Fun and games.  Laugh and get refreshed.  Fridays, 6:30pm at the Caulfield Campus Spiritual Centre (B1.56).

Monash University Islamic Society (MUIS)

A students' community group based on the principles of brotherhood, rationalism, co-ordination and co-operation to take care of the zislamic activcites at Monash University, inform Muslim students about relevant information and activities.  The two main goals of the society are:

  1. To conduct and to provide information about Islamic activities inside and outside the university.  This includes information about prayer timings and Musallahs (prayer rooms) in Melbourne.  Information on halal food items, conduction of Jumaa' Prayers in the campus, Islamic lectures inside the campus and arrangement of social gatherings inside the campus.
  2. To act as an interface between Muslim and non-Muslim students, in order to inculcate a feeling of brotherhood and tranquility between them.

Australian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS)

The main body under which Jewish university students can unite and express themselves both on and off campus.  It offers a wide variety of religious, educational, social and political activities throughout the year.

  • On Monash Caulfield Campus a discussion about Jewish Kabbalah every Wednesday at 1:00pm

Before the various festivals, AUJS volunteers to help members and other participants prepare for the festival with information about the meaning of the festival and how to practise it.  Other annual activities include Israel Week., a table at Multiculturalism week and Holocaust Commemoration Day.  There are also various on campus social events held throughout the year.

Off-campus activities include an annual ball and other social events for all Melbourne's Jewish students, which are announced throughout the year.  Friday Night Sabbath dinners run in conjunction with AUJS, are usually run at least twice a semester.
