Rule 1: Don't panic

You are not alone. No matter how bad something looks, someone has been in almost exactly the same position before - and survived it. There is always as least one more option you haven't thought of.

Rule 2: If in doubt, ask

Rule 3: Don't reinvent the wheel/know the system

Know where to go for help and who to talk to.

Rule 4: Know the rules

"I didn't know" is no defence in the law, or at uni. Know what is cheating. Don't plagiarise.

Rule 5: Look after yourself

Diet, exercise, stress management, socialise, sex, drugs, alcohol - in moderation.

Rule 6: Have a goal

Try and have a clear goal as to what YOU want from University. And believe in your ability to achieve it.
