Important information for Commonwealth Supported studentsAustralian Permanent Resident Visa (APRV) holders and New Zealand citizensUnder the new legislation, if you are an APRV holder (excluding Humanitarian visa holders) or a New Zealand citizen, you must pay your fees upfront without the discount. You are no longer able to defer your fees to the Australian Taxation Office or receive a discount for upfront payments. You must be living in Australia while studying to be eligible for a Commonwealth supported place. Transitional arrangements for HECS studentsIf you incurred a HECS liability (deferred or upfront) prior to 1 January 2005 (whether at Monash University or another Higher Education provider) you may retain a lower level of fees if you qualify as a pre-2005 student. If you hold an Australian Permanent Resident Visa and you qualify as a pre-2005 HECS student you may also choose your payment method for a specified time. Please read the information sheet " Information on pre-2005 HECS eligibility ". Existing Monash students : Please check your Student Status on your Commonwealth Assistance Notice or Fee Statement to determine if you have already been assessed as a transitional student for your current course. If not, you should follow the instructions on the " Information on pre-2005 HECS eligibility ". Note that any change in course code will result in assessment at the higher, post 2005 rates, until you complete a new 'Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP pre-2005' form for the new course. Students new to Monash: If you are new to Monash, but incurred HECS liability at another institution, then you will be assessed according to the higher, post 2005 rates and regulations until your can prove your pre-2005 HECS status. Please read the information sheet " Information on pre-2005 HECS eligibility ". Student status (previously known as HECS option)Commonwealth supported students who have been assessed as a pre-2005 student will have a student status of 110, 111 or 112 printed on their University correspondence and a transaction code starting with 'Cpre' when the 'Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP pre-2005 HECS' form is completed via WES. Commonwealth supported students who are being assessed according to the new legislation will have a student status of 201, 202 or 203 printed on their University correspondence and a transaction code of 'Cnew' when the 'Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP' form is completed via WES.
