Part J - General Staff Conditions

70. Hours of Duty

70.1 The ordinary hours of duty of general staff will be determined by the University in accordance with this clause.

70.2 The ordinary hours of duty will not exceed an average of 36.75 per week to be worked in accordance with one of the following:

  • 36.75 hours within a work cycle not exceeding 7 consecutive days;
  • 73.5 hours within a work cycle not exceeding 14 consecutive days;
  • 110.25 hours within a work cycle not exceeding 21 consecutive days;
  • 147 hours within a work cycle not exceeding 28 consecutive days.

70.3 The ordinary hours of duty for general staff members other than shift staff members will be worked:

  • on any or all of the days of the week, Monday to Friday; and
  • continuously, except for meal breaks, between 8.00am and 6.00pm.

70.4 The ordinary hours of duty for general staff members working shift arrangements will be worked continuously each shift except for meal breaks and will not exceed 10 hours inclusive of meal breaks in any single shift, and will be worked in accordance with clause 74.
