Conditions applying in common to all trades and services staff

This Part shall apply in common to all trades and services staff except where otherwise expressly provided.

Section 6 - Miscellaneous Items

63. Training

Where it is agreed through the Joint Consultative Committeeand with the staff member co ncerned that additional training in accordance with the trades and services training programmes developed pursuant to clause 10 herein should be undertaken by the staff member, that training may be undertaken either on or off the job. Provided that if the training is undertaken during ordinary working hours the staff member concerned shall not suffer any loss of pay. The University shall not unreasonably withhold such paid training leave.

Any costs associated with standard fees for prescribed courses an d prescribed textbooks (excluding those textbooks which are available in the University's technical library) incurred in connection with the undertaking of training shall be reimbursed by the University upon production of evidence of such expenditure. Pro vided that reimbursement shall also be on an annual basis subject to the presentation of reports of satisfactory progress.

Travel costs incurred by a staff member undertaking training in accordance with this clause which exceed those normally incurred in travelling to and from work shall be reimbursed by the University.
