Committee of Deans Meeting 6-1998

Meeting 6/98 of the Committee of Deans will be held at 2.15 pm on Tuesday, 19 May 1998 in the Sir George Lush Room, ground floor, University Offices Building 3a, Clayton campus.

Members having a direct commercial or financial interest in any item before this meeting must declare that interest to the Chair via the Committee secretary prior to consideration of the item, and must not take part in a vote on any matter concerning it.

An apology has been received from Professor J E Maloney, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Public Affairs).

Mr P Summers, Ms D Lampard, Ms C Mingins & Ms N Mitchell will be in attendance for item 4.1.1.

5.1 Bachelor of Environmental Science, Bachelor of Environmental Design/Studies

Section 3.4 of the Working Party Report Science at Monash contained the following recommendation:

The Panel recommends that the Dean of Science report to the Committee of Deans and Academic Board in May on:

  • the proposed strategy and timetable for new undergraduate programs in environmental science/studies;
  • the vocational outcomes from and market demand for such programs; and
  • the characteristics which will make such programs at Monash unique, distinctive and attractive.

Professor Davies will provide an oral report on the matter.
