1.3       Duration of term

 

1 year or until Membership Committee and Council have considered and approved revised memberships, whichever is the latter.

 

Each year Councillors are invited to nominate for membership of Committees of Council.  Nominations are considered by Membership Committee and recommendations on membership forwarded to Council for its consideration.

 

1.4       Co-option of members

 

The Committee may not co-opt members.

 

2.    Terms of reference

 

2.1       To receive from any two members of Council or two professors [including the Vice-President (Finance)/Chief Financial Officer and Vice-President (Administration)] or one Councillor and one professor [including Vice-President (Finance)/Chief Financial Officer and Vice-President (Administration)], proposals for the conferment of Honorary Degrees on named persons, to consider these proposals and to approve the award of Honorary Degrees.

 

2.2       To receive proposals for the conferment of the award of Monash Fellows and Monash Honorary Fellows, to consider these proposals and to approve the award of Honorary Fellow.

 

2.3       To provide to Council and Academic Board reports following each meeting of the Honorary Degrees Committee.

 

3.     Meetings

 

3.1     Frequency of meetings

 

As required.

 

3.2     Quorum

 

100% except for appointed members of Council where at least three appointed members must be present at the meeting.

 

4.     Reporting to Council

 

Following each meeting the Committee shall provide a written report to the next meeting of Council.

 

The names of recipients of Honorary awards and Monash Fellows and Monash Honorary Fellows are confidential and may be provided to Council and Academic Board via an oral report.
