RECOMMENDATION

That Council delegate authority to the University Readership/Associate Professorship Committee to determine successful applicants for promotion, and authority to Deans to approve recommendations for promotion from faculty based Lectureship/Senior Lectureship Committees.

RECOMMENDATION That Council receive the report of the Finance Committee meeting held on 28 July 1994.

8.2 Annual Leave

RECOMMENDATION

That Council request the Vice-Chancellor to inform Deans and other Budget Group Heads that all supervisors must direct staff to take leave in excess of twenty days entitlement, but that, in order to minimise disruption to work programs, in the first instance staff be allowed an eighteen-month cycle in which to take excess leave, that cycle to revert to a twelve-month period after the initial eighteen-month arrangement.

MONASH UNIVERSITY COUNCIL

Election of Chancellor and Deputy Chancellors


Pursuant to sections 16 and 17 of the Monash University Act and Statute 3.1 - The Chancellor and Deputy Chancellors, notice is given of term elections of a Chancellor and two Deputy Chancellors for three-year periods, commencing 20 February 1995 (being the proposed date for the first meeting of Council in 1995).

Nominations, which must be signed by a proposer and seconder, both being members of Council, and include the written consent of the nominee, will close on 31 October 1994 at 5.00 pm.

If one nomination only is received for the office of Chancellor and two nominations only are received for the offices of Deputy Chancellor, the nominees will be declared elected by the Academic Registrar as Returning Officer at the meeting of Council on 31 October 1994.

If more than one nomination is received for the office of Chancellor or more than two nominations are received for the offices of Deputy Chancellor, elections will be held at 12 noon on Monday 5 December 1994. Voting will be by post, by means of a voting paper issued to each member, and the result of the election will be announced by the Returning Officer at the meeting of Council on 12 December.

Term and casual vacancies on Council and other Committees are detailed below, together with the Vice-Chancellor's recommendations for appointments to those vacancies. In finalising his recommendations, the Vice-Chancellor has taken into account the current committee commitments of members and their availability and willingness to serve.

A. Standing Committees

Vacant positions: One Council member and one alternate member vice Dr Kolm and Mr May respectively.

Term: July 1994 - June 1997
