Discipline
Right to Appeal
Students found guilty of an act of general or academic misconduct have within 28 days after receipt of the notice of the decision concerned to appeal. The appeal must be lodged to the Secretary, Central Discipline Committee (Appeals).
Students can appeal on at least one of the following grounds*:
- an excessive penalty was applied;
- there was bias on the part of the discipline committee;
- there was significant procedural irregularity in the hearing of the charge(s); or
- new evidence of a substantial nature, being evidence not reasonably available at the time of the original hearing.
* NB: Where academic or general misconduct has been admitted at an earlier hearing, you may only appeal on the ground of excessive penalty.
