Role of Finance

Finance roles within the University have been devolved to the faculties and divisions, these staff are supported by seven central finance divisions reporting to the Vice President (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer, David Pitt.

Business Strategy

Director: Loren Miller
  • Undertakes business review and strategic analysis of financial operations
  • Conducts business analysis to support strategic initiatives and operational performance improvement and efficiencies
  • Facilitates decision making across the University
 
 

Corporate Business Systems

Director: Phil Wheatland
  • Supports and maintains the SAP finance system and other finance-based business systems
  • Identifies and manages financial system enhancements and process improvements
  • Develops and implements change management strategies and communication plans
 
 

Corporate Finance

Divisional Director: David McWaters
  • Manages the University's accounting policies, tax compliance and external financial reporting obligations
  • Provides advice on the accounting treatment, tax implications and financial result impacts of complex business proposals/transactions
  • Processes staff reimbursements and administers the corporate credit card program
 
 

Financial Resources Management

Divisional Director: Reynold Dias
  • Develops budget strategies and reports on and monitors the University's financial performance
  • Undertakes activity based costing, pricing analysis and financial analysis of key University strategies
  • Manages the University's insurance program
 
 

Major Projects

Director: Jessica Lightfoot
  • Manages strategic initiatives with complex financial and legal dimensions
  • Leverages the University's asset base to ensure the delivery of the University's objectives
 
 

Strategic Procurement

Director: Peter Naujoks
  • Utilises the purchasing power of the University by establishing preferred supplier arrangements for commonly used goods and services
  • Identifies areas where savings can be generated, by way of purchase or usage 
  • Provides strategic sourcing advice and procurement skill development
 
 

Treasury and Corporate Receivables

Treasurer: Geoff Murray
  • Manages the University's investment portfolio, borrowings and foreign exchange
  • Conducts transactional banking and cashflow forecasting
  • Ensures monies owed to the University are collected in a timely manner
