HR Policy Bank project

The University has developed a central Policy Bank in order to support consistent practices across the University. Policy Bank will be the sole repository for University policies and associated procedures. It aims to improve the accessibility and user friendliness of policies and procedures via the use of standardised and succinct templates that clearly distinguish policy from procedures. The University is progressively updating Policy Bank with policies and procedures from academic and management areas.

The Human Resources (HR) Division’s Organisational Development & Policy (OD&P) Branch is managing the transition of all existing Workplace Policies and Procedures (WPP) to Policy Bank. The transition will occur over two key project phases.

Phase 1 - Development of HR Policy

The OD&P Branch has reviewed existing policies in consultation with a range of key stakeholders in the HR Division and at other campuses. Eight global policies were developed and approved by the Strategy and Resources Committee (SRC) on 5 June 2008. These policies will be supported by specific procedures and include:

  1. Recruitment, Selection and Appointment
  2. Remuneration and Benefits
  3. Workforce Management
  4. Staff Development
  5. Conduct and Compliance
  6. Wellbeing and Support
  7. International Staffing and Mobility
  8. Leaving Monash.

Phase 2 - Development of HR Procedures

All remaining WPP content is currently being converted into the required Policy Bank templates for procedures. Working groups have been established within the four branches of the HR Division to assist with this process.

HR Policy Bank will initially accommodate University-wide and Australian procedures. Campus and faculty specific variations to procedures will be reviewed during 2009.

Regular updates will be posted on this HR News site detailing the progress of this project.
