Radiation Safety - Unsealed Sources

The course is presented in modular format on  2 CD-Roms. These cover basic principles and practices for the safe use of unsealed ionizing radiation sources such as Iodine-125 and Phosphorus-32. Successful completion of an on-line examination for each CD-Rom based on the course content is required for all users of ionizing radiation before commencement of such work. Contact your departmental Radiation Safety Officer for access to the CD-Roms and for access to the on-line examinations.

Duration:                  Course Material - CD-Rom

Each CD-Rom consists of several self-paced modules which can be completed individually.  (NB:  Completion of all modules on one CD-Rom is estimated to require 3-4 hours)

Examinations

There are two compulsory on-line examinations and these are expected to take 25-35 minutes to complete.  Exams can be repeated on more than one occasion with the examinee having the option to submit or discard the results.  (Note:  A successful examination result must be submitted prior to commencement of work with ionizing radiation).

Target Group:         Compulsory for all staff and research students who are going to work with unsealed sources of ionising radiation and their supervisors.  A certificate can be printed on successful completion of the examination.
