Strategic Procurement Group

Strategic Procurement Group is part of the Financial Resources Management Division and was established as a result of a DEST Workplace Productivity program in 2006.

The function of the  Strategic Procurement Group is to:

  • develop and promote the use of Strategic Sourcing best practice processes to the University's purchasing;
  • leverage the University's  purchasing power by consolidating purchasing requirements when engaging the supplier market;
  • to develop and issue major tenders and establish preferred supliers for commonly used goods and services;
  • to identify areas where savings can be generated, by way of purchase or usage;
  • to develop policies that promote better purchasing practices; and
  • to act as an advisory service on all procurement issues.
