Printing Services

What is the difference between digital and offset print?

Offset printing or traditional printing gives a higher quality of colour than digital printing. However, digital printing can be more cost effective at lower volumes. Each job needs to be assessed identify the most efficient method of printing for your requirement. Wherever appropriate, digital printing should be considered first being the most cost effective solution with excellent quality.

The University’s internal printing services can provide help and assistance on the best solution for your particular job. You are encouraged to seek their help and advice.

How do I buy print?

Digital

Step 1. All digital printing requirements must be directed through one of the Internal Print Managers in the table below. Of these, Monash Print Services or OCLC Printery has the widest range of equipment to service internal needs and should be approached in the first instance unless you are currently serviced by one of the other internal facilities.
Step 2. The Internal Print Manager will review your requirement and either print in-house or sub-contract to a panel of digital Endorsed Suppliers on your behalf.
Step 3. Monash Print Services are finalising the set-up of an online, job submission service (driven by special software supported by Pirion) that will facilitate the logging of all print jobs online. OCLC Printery has an on-line submission form for print ready material. Please contact their Print Production Administration for instructions on how to use this service.

Offset

Step 1. For offset printing requirements you may either contact Monash Print Services, OCLC Printery or one of the Endorsed Suppliers directly. Alternatively you can ask one of the Internal Print Managers to manage the requirement on your behalf.
Step 2. Seeking prior assistance from MPS, OCLC Printery or one of the Internal Print Managers is encouraged, particularly if it is an exacting job or work with special requirements. Their staff are experts and there to assist you.
Step 3. Monash Print Services are finalising the set-up of an online job submission service ( driven by special software supported by Pirion) that will facilitate the logging of all print jobs online. OCLC Printery has an on-line submission form for print ready material.
