Vehicle Fleet

 

Vehicle Purchases

Motor vehicles, for all campuses are centrally purchased by Procurement Services.  This includes departmental vehicles and covers both commercial and passenger vehicles.

Currently the University purchases its passenger vehicles at listed contract prices negotiated by the Victorian Government Purchasing Board.  This provides considerable savings on on vehicle purchases.  In addition, all vehicles are purchased exempt of sales tax.

Vehicles covered under the Victorian Government Purchasing Board contract are currently most models of Holden (General Motors), Ford, Mitsubishi and Toyota.

Replacing Commercial/Departmental Vehicles

The following steps apply when you are thinking of replacing commercial/departmental vehicles only:

Step 1: Contact the Fleet manager to discuss the present status of your vehicle

Step 2: The following should taken into consideration when deciding on whether to sell/ replace the vehicle:
 

  • Number of kilometers travelled
  • Age of vehicle
  • What is the need of this vehicle?
  • Rationale for vehicle type?
  • Is the vehicle suitable for department’s requirement?
     

All standard vehicles purchased for use by the university come with the following basic features:
 

  • Dual airbags
  • ABS brakes
  • Air Conditioning
  • Mud Flaps
  • Head Light Bonnet
  • Floor Protector Mats
  • Prepaid Service equivalent to current Monash policy
  • Cargo Barriers – Wagons 

Step 3: Pending consultation and vehicle evaluation a vehicle is sourced via the fleet manager or advice provided to remain with present arrangements

Purchase Order generated by the fleet manager and the PO workflow process is then followed through the SAP system.

Fuel Card, CityLink & RACV 

Fuel card and RACV membership are automatic additions with the purchase of a Monash vehicle.  e-Tags are ordered as required.

Registration of vehicles

University vehicles have a common expiry date for registration - 16th August. (Some exceptions do apply)
