About the Archives

Collections

The University Archives is an in-house archive currently housing records of permanent value from Caulfield, Clayton, Gippsland, Peninsula and Parkville campuses. The collection volume is approximately 2,000 linear metres. See Overview of the Collection for more information.

Reference Services

Archives staff handle enquiries related to the university's records via telephone, email and fax. Records are made available to staff, students and outside researchers in the reference area by appointment.

Copies of publicly available records like Council Minutes, Annual Reports, Calendars and faculty handbooks, are available for use in the reference area. These include records of the former Chisholm Institute of Technology, Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education and State College of Victoria at Frankston.

Records Transfer

Archives staff provide an appraisal service to all university faculties, departments and centres to determine records of permanent value which can be transferred to the archives collection.

Enquiries are also welcome from academic staff who would like guidance about the transfer of records they no longer require for their own use. See Records of Academic Staff or contact the Archives

Opening Hours

The Archives is open from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Staff and researchers wishing to access records should contact the Archives prior to their visit.
