Overview of the Archives Collection

The University Archives houses records of permanent value, which are records kept for administrative, legal, historical or research purposes.

The collection includes:

  • Records of the university governing bodies, such as, Council, Academic Board, Committee of Deans and other significant committees
  • Central administration records including records of the Vice Chancellor and senior administrators
  • Records of amalgamation partners and predecessor institutions:
  • Records of the University Union and Sports and Recreation Association
  • Records related to student activities and associations
  • Records of performing and creative arts, including Alexander Theatre
  • Personal records of senior academics and administrators
  • Records from faculties, departments and centres
  • Personnel records
  • Student records
  • University publications:
  • Images related to the history of Monash University and its amalgamation partners - See MONPIX Image Database
  • Site and facilities management records including architectural plans
