Scholarships for graduatesTwo recent graduates from the Gippsland campus, Ms Ann-Marie Smart (Business) and Mr Richard Visser (Engineering/Business), were presented with Loy Yang Power scholarships at a presentation held at the Loy Yang Power Station recently. The scholarship program, currently in its fifth year, is a joint initiative of Loy Yang and Monash's Gippsland campus. Each graduate will receive $10,000 and 12 months paid employment at Loy Yang, with the possibility of long-term employment. Head of the Gippsland Faculty of Business and Economics Mr Len Pullin said it was important to encourage young people to stay and work in the area and that these scholarships gave local graduates that chance. "It is more than just a scholarship," he said. "It is a key strategic interaction between a commercial business and a tertiary institution. |
