Future
paralympian?
The Australian Men's Paralympic Standing Volleyball squad will
be training at Monash University on Saturday 18 March and Sunday
19 March and will be looking for new players who have the potential
to compete for Australia in the 2000 Paralympics.
Paralympic standing volleyball has the same rules as the able body
version with only one difference - players are classified into different
physical disability levels, from minimal to the more severe.
If you have a physical disability and are interested in the possibility
of playing volleyball for Australia, the training starts at 9 am
on Saturday in the stadium at the Clayton campus. For further information,
contact Ms Dimmey Aryron on 0412 011 860.
After more than 30 years' at Monash, director of the Centre for Applied
Mathematical Modelling Professor Graeme Ross is leaving the university.
Professor Moss began at Monash lecturing in mathematics at the former
Caulfield Institute of Technology. He was later appointed head of
the Department of Mathematics and then head of the School of Applied
Science at Chisholm.
Friends and colleagues are invited to attend farewell drinks for
Professor Ross on Wednesday 15 March at 4.15 pm in the Faculty of
Science meeting room.
Anyone wishing to attend should contact Ms Karen Bond on extn 54884.
The latest addition to the Monash website is the Media Contacts Guide,
a database of Monash academics available to comment to the media on
their areas of research and teaching expertise.
Also online is Newsline, an up-to-date forum of news about Monash
research and achievements.
Both these sites can be found by clicking on to 'News and Events'
on the home page.
