  • Australian history exhibition

Monash staff are invited to attend the opening of the Monash Library Rare Books Section's latest exhibition, Early Australian History Books and Periodicals.

Professor Graeme Davison from the History department will open the exhibition on Thursday 6 April at 5.45 pm. The exhibition is on the 1st floor, ISB wing, Monash Main Library, Clayton campus.

  • Boost for Austrian studies

The Austrian ambassador to Australia, Dr Otmar Koler, last week visited the Clayton campus to welcome Professor Ursula Makoschitz, who has taken up the inaugural lectureship in Austrian studies at the Austrian Centre in the Faculty of Arts.

Dr Koler said Professor Makoschitz, who will undertake teaching and research, would give a real impetus to Austrian studies at Monash.

The ambassador also presented a collection of books on Austrian literature, culture and society to the Monash Library, which now houses the biggest collection of Austrian literature in the Southern Hemisphere.
