As part of National Science Week, the Faculty of Science will present a free public lecture, 'Understanding how the solar system was formed'. The lecture will be presented by reader in science Dr Andrew Prentice, who is well known for his prediction of several new moons orbiting Uranus and Neptune, as well as the composition and structure of the Galilean Moons of Jupiter. The lecture will be held on Tuesday 9 May from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm in South 1 Lecture theatre. After the lecture, there will be a session on career opportunities in science.
Senior lecturer in education at Peninsula campus Mr Robert Greaves organised the 'Children Working with Wood' activity at Melbourne's recent International Flower and Garden Show. According to Mr Greaves, the activity, run in conjunction with the Australian Drug Foundation, had proved to be very popular. |
