Monash composer-of-honour

As part of the Monash Australian Composers Series, the School of Music - Conservatorium has announced Professor Graham Hair as its Australian composer-of-honour and adjunct professor for 2000.

Professor Hair, who is currently chair of Music at the University of Glasgow, is the eighth Australian composer in the annual series.

In welcoming Professor Hair to Monash, deputy vice-chancellor (Resources) Ms Alison Crook said Professor Hair was well known in the US, the UK and Australia as a prolific composer of piano, ensemble and, in recent years, female vocal music.

In the audience at the announcement ceremony were past composers-of-honour including Ms Helen Gifford OAM (1996), Mr Peter Tahourdin (1998) and Mr Lawrence Whiffin (1999).
