• Update of register of senior university women

Monash's listings for the Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee Register of Senior University Women are currently being updated.

The register includes all academic women at senior lecturer level (or equivalent) and above, and all female general staff at HEW level 10 and above.

The register is available on the AVCC website to enable wider exposure for senior university women and to encourage their appointment to influential positions in government, education and business.

• Start the day with Barry Jones

Staff are invited to hear Professor Barry Jones speak on 'The stranglehold of "short-termism" in Australian research' at a breakfast session on 10 August.

Professor Peter Darvall will introduce Professor Jones, who is a Labor politician, writer, broadcaster and adjunct professor at Monash.

Professor Jones is also a 'living national treasure', one of 100 people nominated by the National Trust as Australian icons.

The breakfast will be held from 7.30 am to 8.45 am in the Banquet Room, first floor, Campus Centre, Clayton. The cost is $22 per person.
