Faculty of Law administrative assistant Cathy Arnott shares a youthful exuberance
with the students she enjoys working with.
Originally from Cairns, Cathy's family came to Melbourne when she was a child. Growing up in the Frankston area sealed her affinity for the coast.
After leaving school, Cathy studied chemistry at Swinburne, before switching to Chisholm TAFE to do her Certificate 3 in Business Administration.
Her course included undertaking work experience, which is how she hooked up with Monash's Indigenous Employment and Career Development Strategy.
As part of the strategy, Cathy came to work for a nursing studies unit at Monash Medical Centre in 1998, moving to the Law faculty on Clayton campus the following year.
The same year, she completed her Certificate 4 in Business Administration through Monash, an achievement of which she is justifiably proud.
Cathy's current job includes handling student queries, processing special considerations and learning the new student system Callista, with a view to becoming a data integrity officer.
On weekends, Cathy enjoys painting and exploring the Peninsula, wandering through art galleries and indulging her passion for fishing on the bay.
