• Hear about Monash University in Prato

An information session on the new Monash Centre in Prato, Italy, will be held on Wednesday 30 August at the Clayton campus

The session will take place between 1 pm and 2 pm in lecture theatre E7 on the ground floor of the Menzies building. Those attending are welcome to bring their lunch.

The centre's inaugural director, Professor Bill Kent, will show slides and speak about the aims of the centre, as well as activities currently being planned.

• Art and Design appointment

The Faculty of Art and Design has recently appointed a new faculty manager, Ms Vera Holt.

Ms Holt, who was a finalist in the Telstra Business Woman of the Year Awards in two states in 1997 and 1998, will be involved in developing the faculty's business, quality assurance and operational systems.

Before taking up her appointment at Monash, she was a business development and project manager at accounting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and was also business manager at the University of Melbourne's residential college, St Hilda's College.
