House-cleaning products designed by Monash Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Industrial Design students are being considered for manufacture.
Industrial design lecturer Mr Selby Coxon said the designs of two students on a six-week project with leading domestic cleaning product manufacturer ED Oates were under consideration.
Mr Joseph Rudolph designed a rubbish bin with an integrated dustpan in a compartment at the bottom, which eliminates the need for a separate dustpan - dust particles can be swept straight into the bottom of the bin.
His brother, Mr Frank Rudolph, came up with a car wash station that took a wind-up garden hose kit and enlarged the centre 'wheel' section to include storage for car cleaning items such as detergent, sponges and chamois.
Mr Coxon said ED Oates had expressed interest in pursuing discussions with the Rudolph brothers about developing their designs for manufacture.
Another student, Mr Daniel Roney, was praised for his rubbish bin that featured a lid that doubled as a dustpan so dust swept up could be upended into the bin and the pan fitted on top for easy storage.
