Part-time finance officer in the Centre for Australian Indigenous Studies
Anne Scott manages to balance many interests.
Growing up in St Kilda, Anne studied commerce at the Prahran Institute of Technology. Her first job was as court stenographer for the Victoria Police in the late 1960s and early 1970s, where she recalls recording interviews with victims of Cyclone Tracy.
She left to start a family, during which time she bought a business importing antiques, as well as an ice-making business.
In 1980, Anne began work as a temp at Caulfield, managing to juggle her businesses and her work commitments. This flexible arrangement allowed her to also indulge her love of travel, and during this time she trekked around Australia, Europe and Indonesia.
In 1992 Anne became an administrative officer in the Disability Liaison Office at Clayton, which, she says, involved "doing anything and everything".
Anne moved to her current job this year, where she is responsible for budgets and faculty liaison.
Describing herself as "essentially a buyer and a seller", Anne still dabbles in antiques, as well as house renovations. She is also looking forward to visiting Vietnam next year.
