  • Staff cocktail party

The Administrative Support Staff Network is hosting its annual cocktail party on 15 November, from 5.15 pm to 7.30 pm at the University Club.

The door prize is a Konica Up 110 camera valued at $180, donated by Australia Pty Ltd. All staff are welcome. Cost $10. RSVP and money by Friday 10 November to Ms Bev Olbrich at the Sports and Recreation Association. Inquiries: extn 54118.

  • Host families sought

The Japanese Studies Centre at Clayton campus is seeking people to host a Japanese university student for three weeks early next year.

The intercultural program is an opportunity for people to broaden their horizons, have fun and at the same time earn some money. The centre is looking for families or students willing to welcome the students into their homes, and to experience and share different cultures and lifestyles.

  • Scholarship awarded

Monash arts student Ms Jennifer Jackson recently received the $300 Mature-Age and Part-time Students Association (MAPS) Scholarship.

MAPS president Mr Zafi Bachar and selection panelist Mr Ian Goldsworthy presented the scholarship to Ms Jackson for her perseverance and academic achievement.

The MAPS executive committee established the scholarship to encourage participation of mature-age, part-time and distance education students in tertiary education.
