Seven Monash students are in the running to win the inaugural Baldessin Arts 21 Travelling Fellowship.
The fellowship is named after gifted artist and sculptor George Baldessin, who died in a car accident in 1978. The winner will be announced at the Faculty Gallery, Caulfield campus, on 23 November.
Graduating third-year sculpture students from Monash, RMIT, and the Victorian College of the Arts are eligible for the fellowship.
A $16,000 prize will give the winner the opportunity to pursue their studies overseas.
The Monash finalists are:
National Gallery of Victoria deputy director Mr Tony Elwood will judge the award, which will be presented by NGV director Dr Gerard Vaughan.
