The Australian APEC Study Centre is holding a symposium at the Windsor Hotel on 13 and 14 December. The APEC 2000 Public/Private Sector Dialogue aims to define APEC's infrastructure agenda to further develop cooperative development programs in Asia and Latin America. Recommendations from the symposium will be made to the APEC Economic Committee to drive future initiatives in upgrading the quality of data available to regulators, improving risk assessment in the public and private sectors, and assisting legal framework reforms. Election of one member of the Council by the professorial staff of the university to fill a casual vacancy. Two nominations were received for this position and a ballot was held at 5 pm on 9 November 2000. Following the counting of primary votes, Professor Tam Sridhar received an absolute majority. Accordingly, Professor Tam Sridhar is elected to this position for a term of office from 3 October 2000 until 31 December 2001. |
