Higher education forum

Monash Malaysia will host a forum on the new world of higher education at the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur on Friday 23 February.

The traditional view of university life as being a single campus, face-to-face and full-time experience is dramatically changing to one which is flexible in delivery, cross-cultural and international.

Vice-chancellor Professor David Robinson will speak at the forum about the changes occurring in higher education and Monash's role in defining and operating within this continually changing environment.

Host a Japanese student

Staff are invited to host one of the Japanese students taking part in the Japanese Studies Centre Intercultural Communication Program from 17 March to 5 April.

The centre is offering families $180 per week for the three-week period to offset some of the costs associated with hosting a student.

Library lecture

The Friends of Monash University Library is hosting a lecture on the Golden Cockerel Press at 7 pm on Thursday 1 March.

Ms Merete Smith, Rare Books librarian at the Baillieu Library, will deliver the lecture about the press, well known for book production that successfully combined woodcut illustrations with excellence in type design.

The lecture will be held at the Exhibition Area, Rare Books Section, first floor, Monash Main Library. For further inquiries, contact Ms Barbara Hood on extn 52662.
