An Olympic effort

About 80 people joined Olympic volleyballer Ms Sandi Bowen on a walk around Monash Clayton last week.

Ms Bowen, who works at the Sports and Recreation Centre at Clayton, was co-captain of the Sydney 2000 women's volleyball team and has played 148 international matches for Australia.

She officially started the walkers off on their 2 kilometre trek around the ring road, which was followed by a hot breakfast and spot prizes.

The walk was the first in a series of health programs at Monash aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Future events will include walks at other campuses, a diabetes education and detection program and activities during Occupational Health and Safety Week later this year.
