Monash Memo - 6 June 2001Back to this edition's story list Economic contract winMonash International has won a prestigious contract from the Asian Development Bank to study future economic cooperation between China and eastern parts of inner Mongolia. The regional technical assistance contract means Monash International will conduct the Strategic Study on Development Options for Economic Cooperation between the two countries. Monash International's project development manager Ms Julie Robertson said the two countries were moving towards open policies and economic reform. "The study will contribute to plans for improved economic relations between China and Mongolia and assist the governments in boosting the area's development by strengthening cross-border economic cooperation," she said. The study will include a socio-economic analysis of the region covering the availability of basic social infrastructure, government services and facilities, financial services, and the scale and economic potential of resources. Ms Robertson said the project was the first step in a series of ADB-funded studies to enhance regional cooperation between China and Mongolia. |
