Monash Memo - 6 June 2001Back to this edition's story list Career development awards for general staff
Nine general staff were recipients of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Resources) Career Development Scholarships, awarded during a morning tea ceremony last week. The scholarships are available to staff members up to HEW level 5 who wish to study to enhance their career prospects within the university. Deputy vice-chancellor (Resources) Ms Alison Crook, who presented the awards, congratulated the recipients for their dedication in pursuing further studies. "It is extremely important for the university to recognise the need to go on learning and to encourage staff to participate in schemes such as this," she said. One of the scholarship winners, Ms Lee Tierney, administrative secretary in the Works Branch at the Peninsula campus, is using the money to undertake a business accounting diploma. "I've discovered an absolute love of finance and figures, which has amazed me. The accounting side not only helps my work at Monash but helps run our farm as well," she said.
