Monash Memo - 13 June 2001Back to this edition's story list Postgraduate research centre revamped
The newly refurbished Monash Research Graduate Centre provides research students with improved study facilities. Launched late last month by deputy-vice-chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Peter Darvall, the centre's refurbishment cost $100,000 and includes shared office space equipped with internal telephones and network connections for laptop use. Monash Research Graduate School director Professor Max King said the centre would enable students to pursue their own research projects in a purpose-built environment. They could also take part in social, cultural and intellectual activities with other postgraduates, including international students, from a variety of disciplines. "The centre plays an important role in the university's strategic plan to enhance and enrich the postgraduate research environment at Monash," he said. Among those who attended the launch were vice-chancellor Professor David Robinson and deputy vice-chancellor (Resources) Ms Alison Crook.
