Monash Malaysia will establish a Biotechnology Resource Centre (BRC) on its campus after signing a memorandum of agreement with two international biotechnology organisations. Monash Malaysia pro vice-chancellor Professor Robert Bignall signed the agreement with Mr Ho Nai Kin, from the Malaysian Agri-Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC), and Dr Randy A Hautea, regional director of the International Service for the Acquisition of Agribiotech Applications (ISAAA). The Biotechnology Resource Centre is first of its kind to be established in a Malaysian university. It aims to fulfil the need for a highly credible, sound, and factual biotechnology information resource centre in Malaysia. The BRC will be headed by Miss See Yee Ai, who will take up her appointment as executive director on 1 July 2001. She holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She was previously a journalist at the STAR newspaper and has extensive experience covering science, technology and current issues. |
