E-business symposium

The Faculty of Business and Economics will host the International Symposium of Economics of E-commerce and Networking Decisions at the Caulfield campus on 6 and 7 July.

One of the keynote speaker at the symposium will be Harvard University's Professor Paul Milgrom, who is renowned for his work on the economics of the internet and business.

Topics to be discussed include theories and case studies of e-marketing, e-taxation, e-currency, share prices of e-business, and teaching of e-business courses.

A taxing conference

Monash University is hosting a conference on taxation and good governance in mid-July at its Caulfield campus.

Presenters will include senior politicians such as Senator Lyn Allison (Australian Democrats), prominent economist Saul Eslake (ANZ Banking Group Ltd) and Age journalist Kenneth Davidson.

Also involved are Monash academics Dr Ken Coghill, Mr Denis Woodward (politics), Associate Professor Alison McClelland (social work and social policy), Professor Brian Costar (political and social inquiry), Professor Mohamed Ariff (business and economics) and Mr Wayne Gumley ( business law and taxation).

The program will cover tax realities in Australia, an international comparison of tax levels, and benefits and disadvantages of higher tax rates.
