Monash Memo - 11 July 2001Back to this edition's story list International Centre on track
The site manager for the new International Centre being built at the Clayton campus, Mr Leo Alles, has every reason to be happy - the building is on track for completion in February next year. The centre, project managed by Monash Property Management, will house four of the university's international bodies including Monash College, the Monash University English Language Centre, Monash International head office and the Office of International Affairs. Director, Corporate Services for Monash International, Mr John Rivett said the building, currently under construction by Hansen Yuncken, is now well advanced and would be ready for the first intake of students in 2002. "At this stage the external structure has been substantially completed. In addition the steel structure that will make up the multi-level glass atrium is being constructed," he said. Mr Rivett said the next stage of construction will involve having the roof completed so that work on the buildings internal structural fitout can progress. Once completed, the International Centre will provide Monash with a landmark presence on its Wellington Road boundary. Caption: Mr Leo Alles on site. |
