New library annexe meets demand

The official opening of the Matheson Library annexe earlier this month will enable staff and students to benefit from increased access to the library's resources.

Established in response to demand for extended library opening hours, the annexe is a self-contained area of the library with secure library study facilities, 37 computers, photocopying services and network printing facilities.

Patrons can also use the library's reserve collection and extensive electronic resources.

The annexe is open until 11.45 pm from Mondays to Thursdays and from 10 am to 5 pm on weekends during semester, providing an extra 14 hours access a week.

The university has also provided funding for a security bus service at midnight to take users to their cars.

Vice-chancellor Professor David Robinson unveiled a plaque to mark the opening of the annexe.
