Monash Memo - 29 August 2001Back to this edition's story list Syllabus Plus comes to Monash
Academic and teaching staff and students have been
urged to attend one of a series of information sessions on the
implementation of Syllabus Plus, the university’s new electronic
timetabling system. Timetables project manager Ms Pamela Childs said
the sessions would be particularly valuable for those with questions
about the new software package. “The sessions are open to all staff, but those
who are interested in the timetabling process or involved with course
structure, change and delivery are particularly urged to attend,” she
said. “It’s a great opportunity for people to meet
the project team, and the faculty timetabler will be on hand to receive
any requests for changes to the 2001 schedule from school and
departmental timetabling officers.” Syllabus Plus will replace existing manual and
electronic systems and match on-campus students with lectures while
optimising the time and location of their classes. While the package is not new to Monash, having been
used across academic activities at Gippsland and Caulfield and within
the Arts and Science faculties, this is the first time there will be a
coordinated Monash-wide timetable produced electronically. It will also
be personalised for both staff and students. The three remaining sessions will be held as follows:
