Monash Memo - articles - 31 October 2001Green reps learn about recycling
About 45 Monash Green Office representatives assembled recently to find out more about recycling, the theme of this month's Green Office program seminar. Held on 16 October at the Sports and Recreation Centre at Clayton campus, the third monthly seminar included guest speakers from two recycling organisations. Ms Claire Brett from EcoRecycle Victoria talked about the importance of recycling and explained how her company helps both individuals and organisations initiate and improve recycling practices. Mr Mark Jacobsen from Corporate Recycling, a company that recycles printer cartridges and photocopy toner bottles, gave a useful and entertaining presentation on 'Closing the loop' in recycling. Resource booklets with tips to help care for the environment are supplied to program representatives for each monthly theme. After only three months, the program has already led to significant improvements in environmental practices at Monash.
