Monash Memo - articles - 31 October 2001Full house at staff awards presentationThe morning tea for the Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Exceptional Performance by General Staff overflowed recently with 58 members of the Integrated Administration Systems (IAS) project team attending to accept their award certificates. Usually held in the vice-chancellor's office, the 2001 awards on 23 October were handed out at the University Club on Clayton campus to cater for the expanded list of 80 guests. Individual and team winners attended the morning tea with their nominators and were presented with a certificate by vice-chancellor Professor David Robinson. "On behalf of all your colleagues across the university, thank you for the work in your areas, as individuals and in groups, to advance the institution by doing what most people know is above and beyond the call of normal job description," Professor Robinson said. The IAS team of 67 people, nine of whom were unable to attend, accepted the award on behalf of all personnel, both past and present, who have helped develop the enterprise-wide administrative systems, processes and procedures. The Monpix Project Team received an award for its development of the archives online image database. One of the four individual winners, Mr Jamie Scuglia from the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, was nominated for his first-rate technical skills and "consistently perfect performance". The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences' Mr Michael Lewenberg won an award for his development and supervision of the complex Monash medical selection process. Mr Stephen Thompson's innovations and revenue generation for the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology earned him an award, while Mr Allan Thorne from IT Shared Systems was recognised for having spent more than 10 years maintaining the University Library systems' availability and performance.
