Monash Memo - articles - 7 November 2001NUDIST software bares allResearch students can now preview and gain hands-on experience of the capabilities of a qualitative analysis software package designed to manage and examine research data. Monash Research Graduate School is conducting workshops to demonstrate how the Qualitative Solutions Research (QSR) Non-numerical Unstructured Data Indexing Searching and Theorising (NUDIST) software provides tools for managing documents and categories, creating ideas and building and testing theories about data. The first of three introductory workshops was held at Clayton on 31 October. Other workshops will be held at the Caulfield campus. The school's Ms Millsom Henry says the workshops aim to encourage research students to feel confident about using the range of products available to help them with their research. "These introductory sessions give research students the confidence to start using the range of QSR products for their qualitative forms of data," she said. "The workshops are 'tasters' to help us assess the level of demand and interest, perhaps leading to ongoing training from next semester." More workshops are scheduled for 28 November and 12 December at Clayton and 14 November and 5 December at the Caulfield campus. There will also be a series of face-to-face one-hour consultative sessions at Clayton that will offer participants the opportunity to examine the specific tools of the NUDIST software with specific reference to their own data. |
