Praise for environmental partnership

Monash'sCentre for Environmental Management has been recognised for excellencein collaborative research and development.

The award from theBusiness/Higher Education Roundtable (B/HERT) is part of a nationaleffort by the group to encourage research collaboration betweenuniversities and the private sector.

Monash, a member of B/HERT, waspresented with the award for Outstanding Collaboration in Research andDevelopment for its research partnership with Westpac InvestmentManagement and the Health Employees Superannuation Trust of Australia,at a black tie dinner in Sydney on 15 November.

Centre directorProfessor Chris Cocklin said the award recognised the centre'scollaborative work with the other partners in the development ofsocially responsible investment products.

"This is the second nationalaward presented to Monash for this work this year. In July, we receivedthe Banksia Environmental Foundation Award in the category for SociallyResponsible Investment," he said.

"These two national awards are arecognition of both the significance and the innovation of our work."
