Summer, study and ... snow

For most students,summer means sun, surf and sand, but for eight education students fromMonash's Peninsula campus, their experience last summer could not havebeen more different.

The students spent four weeks of their summer ina European winter as part of the German Music and Culture Summer School,run by senior education lecturer Dr Greg Hurworth.

The group begantheir trip in the UK with two days of lectures on architecture, culturalidentity and history at the Monash Centre at King's CollegeLondon.

They then headed to Berlin, Germany, Prague and Vienna beforereturning to London.

"During the program, the students developed anunderstanding of the cultural and historical impact that Europe has hadon the world through music and the arts," Dr Hurworth said.

Thestudents, who were accompanied by education lecturer Ms Lynne Surman,received funding for the summer school from Monash Abroad.
